Our current government talking points are:

1. We will have this handled by Easter and people will go back to normal
2. The financial cost of saving lives is not worth it.
3. If anything has gone wrong it wasn't our fault. To quote Trump: "“Yeah, no, I don’t take responsibility at all". (That was specifically an answer to the delay in getting test kits - which we still don't have enough of)

Yes, responsible people and organizations have to push back against that.
