Montana was "reasonable and prudent" until the put the national 55 limit. Then they made a flat rate $5 fine, just pay the officer directly and it was considered a "waste of natural resources" ticket not a moving violation so it didn't effect your rates. Then nationwide they got rid of the 55 limit and we went back to reasonable and prudent, no fine. Then somebody got a ticket for over 100 mph argued it to a judge, got it thrown out, and the state figured they had to define "reasonable and prudent." So now we have 75 most rural highways and congested interstates and 85 on rural interstates. Unlike say Washington they will let you go 5 mph if not 10 mph over those all day.
