Yes. But I learned of its use for wood and metal preservative from a great aunt in rural Pennsylvania. She used it mostly for wood, I think, but maybe for a gun or two and their old Farmall too. The can talks of preserving metals from rust as a use as well. I first experimented with a small patch on my trunklid where the clearcoat is scaling a little. It made the "blemish" blend into the black paint and become much less visible. Then I started using it more liberally on the worst fade spots (roof and top of the front bumper cover). I also use it to "polish" the black Plastidip coating on my 15" MINI 7 hole rims. To me, it is a cheaper, nontoxic detailing tool. And it was fun to tell my 90+ year old great aunt that I took up her practice with the stuff.
