From what some paranoid people have told me recently, the chance of viruses accidentally escaping labs is quite a bit higher than what the public is told, but I doubt there's enough evidence.
Some thoughts (not going into the stupider fake news points that are insulting to intelligence):
-The CIA has compromised top level officials in China in the past. Why are they grasping at straws for their media stories if this much juicier story is true?
-SARS and SARS-CoV-2 are studied in BSL-3 labs, BSL-4 labs have better containment, filtration, decontamination protocols.
-The national level CDC authorities were notified on Dec. 27th, I want to guess they would know who to ask about a research pathogen and figure out if there was a leak pretty quickly.
Okay the tin foil hat is leaving some marks on my head, that's enough for today :P
