Geo Metro Fuel Pump Circuit

Hey everyone,

If you didn't already know, I am converting a Geo Metro to be a battery electric vehilce (EV for short).

There are a few things I am trying to figure out about turning circuits on and off using the existing things in the car to power new things.

One thing I am not going to use any more is the fuel pump. So it seems to make sense to use the fuel pump 12V power to operate something else, such as an ON/OFF for the electric motor controller with it.

Here's my question - does the fuel pump run all the time the key is in the run position? If so, I can turn the car on and off using that circuit.

If not, tell me why (just so I can learn about this stuff for next time I need to fix a fuel related thing!)

Is there anything else in the car that you think might be helpful for re-purposing for an electric car?

Thanks,

-Ben
