God damn just look up "price gouging" and learn something.
We have laws "protecting" us from fake stuff all the time. Look up "hate crime". If someone commits a crime against an arbitrarily protected class, they have committed a "hate crime". On the other hand, I guess if someone particularly disliked an individual and committed a crime, it would be a love crime?

When I studied price gouging, all I could find is that it's based on when you feel something bad inside, and all the economists agreed that laws protecting our fragile feelings harms all parties.
