I looked closer at the Corolla:

The paint is ruined. I have a 2000 Civic with ruined black paint, I need a 1999 Corolla in the same situation?

It is also filthy. I did not originally notice the damaged fender and bumper or the missing turn signal and center cap.

The steering wheel is disintegrating and the inside passenger door handle is broken.

They trashed everything that we can see. Don't we have every reason to expect the mechanicals are in equal condition--on top of the bad starter and vague coolant leak?

Is this par for course for a $500 car?
