That's what i think too. My three stage charger is specifically designed for preventing this, but it was not plugged in.

This deep cycle was manufactured for use in a variety of auto applications, such as police vehicles. It has good cold cranking ability, but I need my charger to prevent sulfation of the plates.

This is not much draw but If the vehicle sits for a few weeks without starting the battery will die.
I wish I had kept it plugged in!

I looked closer at the Corolla:

The paint is ruined. I have a 2000 Civic with ruined black paint, I need a 1999 Corolla in the same situation?

It is also filthy. I did not originally notice the damaged fender and bumper or the missing turn signal and center cap.

The steering wheel is disintegrating and the inside passenger door handle is broken.

They trashed everything that we can see. Don't we have every reason to expect the mechanicals are in equal condition--on top of the bad starter and vague coolant leak?

Is this par for course for a $500 car?

Yeah. It's not worth putting any real effort into prettying it up for sale because that effort isn't going to make it a $600 car or anything.

And in the end you've got to look at it the way the Bottle Rockets did:

A thousand dollar car ain't gonna roll
'Til you throw at least another thousand in the hole
Sink your money in it, and there you are
The owner of a two thousand dollar thousand dollar car

That is a $200 Corolla at best! I think scrap metal price is crashing. The pile of cars waiting to get crushed is growing at Pick a Part.

I'm seeing more & more examples of NEW SPEAK online. Hoping it's just double plus bad education.

Offer $200 for the Corolla and see what stop leak does?

For science!
