Ah, that's an obvious reason. Was thinking proximity to emergency eject to sea was only necessary immediately after launch, not during a longer duration of burn. Didn't figure the direction of rocket launch either.

Everything in Hawaii is more expensive, but would the location be worth the hassle of shipping everything there?

...man, I thought deplaning a scrubbed takeoff was nearly unbearable. Can't complain after a scrubbed orbital launch.
