But you have to love the old ones! The W123 and W124 with OM 600 series diesel engines. Those are the real eco cars, doing 50 MPG for a million miles. There is nothing more reliable (and therefore ecological) than an old diesel Merc, they just last forever.
Don't know if they were sold in the US … Almost all European W123 are now exported to the Middle East and Africa, but I still see the W124 regularly here with incredible mileages.
