Black rifles are the SUVs of guns. They may look cool, and people who don't think about what they're trying to accomplish may flock to them, but they absolutely suck at their intended purpose. Having one says more about your lack of understanding than anything else. If that's a political position for you, then you have my condolences.
No one cared about black rifles until the government decided we should be allowed to have them. Prior to 1993 your main semi autos were WW2 surplus, mini14 and you would occasionally see some ussr block nation SKS rifles sincethey were only around $80 at one point. Until 1993 I don't think there were ever more than 2 or 3 AR15/M16 manufacturers at any given time and i believe only 1 sold on the civilian market. Now there's fifty something last time I checked.
Almost everyone in the military had shot the M16 since 1963, so at least a million service members were as unimpressed as I was by the m16.
Accuracy was decent and they ran $800 and up in the early 1990s (that's $1,577, adjusted for inflation in 1990 dollars). A mini14 was less than half that so the AR15 priced its self out of the market. The only civilians really buying them were national match shooters with deep pockets.
And now they are absolutely everywhere, Thank you anti gun ignoramuses.
