This works surprisingly well in my Miata. Trip odometer at the various tick marks represents 50-55 mpg at fill-up time. (I do have an MPGuino -- which would also work in your Metro, if you don't have one yet -- but mine has an electrical fault and randomly resets, so it doesn't save tank data.)


If the odometer is off, you can just apply the appropriate correction when you do your MPG calcs.
