Let's suppose an eventual attempt to phase fossil fuels out becomes successful, it wouldn't surprise me if farmers started resorting to moonshine once again, just like some of them did in the Ford Model T days. For lube I guess Castor oil would be OK, also considering Castrol brand refers to the presence of it on the earliest formula even though nowadays it's not the case. Targetting the ICE is not as easy as it could seem, not only because of its widespread presence but also due to its ability to resort to biomass-based fuel and lube while otherwise some biofuel feedstocks could become an environmental nightmare if they were simply thrown away as garbage instead of being given a better destination.
