banning gas powered cars

The U.S electrical grid is antiquated and broken down, and can't even supply basic service when everyone is drawing on it. Depending on that system to provide power for millions of electric cars is insane.
Most all electric power is produced by burning fossil fuels, so turning to all electric will only cause more pollution and taxing power plants. Transporting electric current thru transmission lines is very inefficient.
When our transportation or any industry is dependant on one source of power, it increases vulnerability of foreign attack. Simply knocking out our power plants would totally paralyze our transportation industry.
