I created this thread because Big O informed me they had a $100 off coupon, but I am sure they usually have one coupon or another.

I hate their site and I hate them. It showed the Show Low location, but then one in Mesa. It looked like it wanted me to change stores, but I didn't, since I am in Show Low.

Then I realized that it changed me to Mesa and I needed to change back.

When I pulled up options for my car it only showed four or five, none were the ones that we discussed, and all of them were 205s, which I believe is the width for the V6, not the 4 cylinder. I am positive that I have 175s, but it didn't give me an option, unless I specified 175 each time, and it reset 65-15, so I needed to specify those, too.

I only found two tires that we discussed and for each of them it said "Does not meet speed rating for a 1999 Honda Accord LX."

What?!

Bridgestone Ecopia, 70,000 miles, and $84.00
Continental ProContact, 60,000 miles, and $78.53
Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max, 65,000 miles, and $112.99
Hankook Kinergy ST, 70,000 miles, $62.68
Michelin Energy Saver A/S, 65,000 miles, $127.69
Yokohama Avid Ascend GT, 65,000 miles, $83.00

The advertisements for the Michelin tires said that their tires could "save up to $400 in Gas Over the Life of Your Tires at $3.75 Per Gallon versus a Leading Competitor". Well, the Michelins are over twice as expensive as the Hankooks.

Michelins: $510.76
Merchandising fee: $8.00
Tax: $43.06
Total: $561.82

Hankooks: $250.72
Merchandising Fee: $5.02
Tax: $21.14
Total: $276.88

Will the Michelins save me $284.94 in gas? It is currently $2.229 in Show Low and the most that I have paid (with my Accord) was $2.999, so $3.75 is right out.

My lifetime average is 35.1 MPG with Defenders (although I believe that I only have 2). Let's say that I maintain that for 65,000 miles and, since we do not have any idea what will happen with gas prices, let's say they stay the same. 1,852 gallons at $4,127.78, $4,689.60 with tires.

If they cost the same and the Michelins were 7.7% more efficient they would break even because the Hankooks are supposed to last longer.

Factoring in the longer tire rating Hankooks offer 119% more value!

I do not even know how to compare them now. The price to beat is $4,689.60 with tires. That leaves $4,412.72 for gas. Over 70,000 miles I need to get 35.36 MPG to break even.

The Ecopias have the same rating. Let's say they are $370.83 installed. Will they save me $93.95 in gas over 70,000 miles?

Let's say that I get 5% worse fuel economy with either of those compared to the Defenders. I would use 2,099 gallons over 70,000 miles, and at present rates that would cost $4,679.26. I think the installed price difference is $95.95, which is 2.05%.

Will the Ecopias get me 2% better fuel economy than the Kinergies?
