I believe that it was Walter Korff, Chief Engineer, Lockheed Aircraft Company,( designer of Goldenrod ) in 1963, who gave us the cooling inlet used even today by all NASCAR teams. Full-width of radiator, at 1/6th radiator height, into an air-tight diverging nozzle, widening to full radiator height within the bodywork.
It was enough to keep a 426-hemi alive at beyond 200-mph at Daytona or Bonneville.
