It would flush out in the end eventually. I'm not opposed to a popular vote necessarily. The 2 party system is a pareto principle type problem though. For a 3rd party to gain prominence would require both to really suck, and the 3rd option to be so substantially better, and some luck.

BTW, voting in general is worth nothing. A vote for a losing candidate is worth nothing, and any vote that isn't the final vote to swing an outcome is worth nothing.

My vote in Oregon is worth nothing.
