Steve Earle - Jerusalem (Live on KEXP)

That whole album kicks b*tt.* The intros are always worth a listen, this one ends up with
Quote:
People think this is
hopelessly optimistic but
I'm just gonna keep singing
the song until I die or it comes true
whichever one happens first
[Music]
"I believe that on that day
all the children of Abraham
will lay down their swords forever
in Jerusalem."

He must be smiling tonight.

Make no mistake about it, I want to control the world. But I would settle for a rogue nuclear state.

It wouldn't even have to be nuclear, just with a lock on some critical natural resource or something of the like.

Only issue with that is: if it is critical enough, it will be engineered around so as to not need it, long-term.

Doesn't matter, it's not like iron-fisted rule is sustainable in the positive sense. I'll ride it and bank away a great retirement in a friendly country, and my kids can embezzle or extort enough to set themselves up for their lives.

I went in prepared to disagree with everything.

But:
Get rid of the penny? Okay, just not cash in general

I see the Electoral College the other way. It's the United Staes not the United Peoples. Federal elections should go through the Electoral College, state and local might vary; but the Electoral College preserves the Union.

The electoral college and winner-take-all means:
1. Voting-power is unequal and unfair
2. Third party votes are worth nothing
3. R votes in D states are worth nothing and vice versa
...
Plus, there's more.

The reasons some people like it is because the R party "wins" sometimes when it shouldn't and hatred of other states.

It would flush out in the end eventually. I'm not opposed to a popular vote necessarily. The 2 party system is a pareto principle type problem though. For a 3rd party to gain prominence would require both to really suck, and the 3rd option to be so substantially better, and some luck.

BTW, voting in general is worth nothing. A vote for a losing candidate is worth nothing, and any vote that isn't the final vote to swing an outcome is worth nothing.

My vote in Oregon is worth nothing.

It should be flushed out to sea. I'm trying to not talk directly about politics, so there's much more that I could say. I heard that the three recently appointed SC justices were part of the "legal" team in FL for the 2000 election heist.

Yes and no. Yes, "we the schlubs" are pretty much powerless.

No, one equally weighted vote per voter is the only fair way.

Yep, "red in a "blue" state. But voting for reds ___________.

Federal red politicians are more whorable than blues, and much of policy sucks. Nearly all of them vote for unethical militarism, for one.
