Our local analog to Perkins Cinders is Lane Forest Products. They sell bark mulch, sand and gravel BYOB (bring your own bucket) for $2-3/five gallons. I usually get 2 or 3 buckets at a time.

I used to wash and sort gravel but now I just buy more, and dump clean fill where the neighbors want some.
