I went outdoors for the first time in 20 hours (Halloween Full Moon) and my new[ish] car was beeping. ??!?

I turned the ignition on and off and it didn't help. But that told me it wasn't the seat belt beeper.

I determined to disconnect the battery, but as soon as I found the hood release and pulled it, the beeping stopped.

Is it haunted?

In any case. The engine compartment is really clean. I blew the pine needles out with a leaf blower. It looks like it will respond well to a Chris Fix-style super cleaning. It does need a new red rubber boot on the battery's positive terminal. The only oil stain is below the filler cap, prolly a sloppy fill.

I've never had a 1-liter engine before. It's tiny.
