C19 symptoms are common to practically all illness. The only symptom I found strange was loss of taste, and that occurred late, but other illnesses cause loss of taste too.

January was also the tail-end of regular flu season, and I expect more people were getting flu in Jan than Covid.

Not saying you didn't get it, just wouldn't take that side of the bet.
