Your question could be answered only within a very bounded, contextual framework. And not as a 'whole planet' system, as it's in a vacuum.
It's something that, for example, climate scientists would have to consider on a regional level, with respect to their general circulation models.
A 'model' of Earth, small enough to fit in a wind tunnel, at supercritical Reynolds number, would experience flow separation very close to 115-degrees downstream of it's forward stagnation point.
