There are much more potent greenhouse gases than CO2, but they all degrade over time. Except for CO2, that will not degrade further - it the tightest chemical bond for carbon in the atmosphere. It will eventually get partly absorbed in sediments, but that takes tens of thousands of year to have a meaningful impact.

If we want to lower CO2 we need to do it ourselves. Stop burning fossil fuels and start harvesting plant material to boil off the lighter components, rinse out minerals and either bury the carbon or use it for permanent construction material and the like. Even then it takes an enormous effort to have any impact at all.
