The body of the car is based on the Microcar MC-2, which is made in France. The ZENN people ordered about 600 unpowered 'roller' MC-2's and then outfitted them with the electric running gear in St. Jerome, QC. Regarding your photo of the red car, that is [either a gas or diesel] MC-2 as red was not a color ever offered for a ZENN. If you look closely at your photo, there is a tailpipe sticking out from the left side of the plastic rear bumper.
