That was one frequent problem I had with my Leaf. What's worse is when you can't get the EVSE out of the port because it's full of ice. And once you do there's no way of closing the door. I think these EV's need a different type of charge connection than something that imitates an ICEV's fuel door, and putting it on the front where all the water is going to run off the hood right into it is a bad design. The only good thing about it is that you don't have to back in or need a long cord to charge.

The only way these charge doors make sense is if in the future there'll be a way to rapid charge for just a few minutes. But for all night charging out in the open during the winter it's a bad design.
