I used an LiFePO4 pack for two winters, starting my car. It isn't ideal, but the pack did survive a couple of -20F mornings where it still cranked things fine. My recommendation would be to pair it with some moderately sized capacitors.
I now run the lithium pack during the warmer 7-8 months of the year. I just swapped my winter SLA for the lithium pack last night, in fact.
