YKYAEM when you deliberately skip the closest DIY shop for one further out because it wouldn't be much of a walking exercise otherwise.
To be fair, I did not get get big cardboard boxes.
I got me a CH radiator ventilator strip. It worked (the difference between temperature on the floor and higher up went down) but it resonated on the radiator and I had to return it. Another exercise 
I did add radiator foil to the back of the radiator, that had about the same effect. The wall next to the radiator remains cold now - less heat lost to the outside.
I walk more distance than I drive nowadays.
