Generally a set of vehicles designed together that share major sub systems and a set of hard points that allow them to be assembled on the same assembly line. It is more complicated upfront but saves a lot in the long run.

The Bronco Sport (CUV), Maverick (truck), and Transit Connect (Van) will be all build on the same line in Mexico in any combination. They don't run them in batches with tooling changes between models

Honda does the same thing in Alabama were the Odyssey (van) Pilot (CUV), Passport (CUV), and Ridgeline (Truck) are built on the same assembly line.
