Yea, the drivetrain is rather unconventional.
However it works flawlessly and the efficiency penalty of an IGH is nonexistant most of the time as I'm in gear 2 for 90-95% of the ride.
Some kind of fairing would indeed be nice as I'm living in the flat lands where the weight penalty associated with one wouldn't be noticeable.
Anyway, cargo capavity is rather usefull as well:
