Definitely make the ScanGauge a priority. It'll take the guesswork out of "trying everything" to get better MPG - I'm pretty sure hwh53 will agree.

If you can't afford one (it would pay for itself easily, if you're serious about using it to adjust your habits), you can make your own MPGuino for under $50.

I'm very interested to see what GM does with this platform. It currently gets slightly worse combined rated mileage than the Cobalt XFE, if I'm not mistaken. Though GM has promised to make it a "class leader" in its next iteration (whatever that means - technically, the Aveo isn't in the same class as the Yaris).
