My Metro has the same problem*, the rear body undershoots the back edge of the tire. I posted something earlier about bubble skirts. The guy who invented them in the 1950s cut compound curves out of car bodies in a wrecking yard. Maybe you could just drag two fenders home and cut the tops off and turn them sideways.

* I have materials for ones the size you have now -- a Dish antenna to cut in half. I just have to figure out what to do with the 3/4" flange all around it. Maybe bend a rod to lay in the valley and then hammer it over....
