Polybutylene is what I used in my home when I built it. Back then it was the latest and greatest.

Then 6 months later the lawsuits started.

The problem wasn’t with the pipe. It was the plastic fittings and aluminum clamp rings that some people used. If you used copper fittings, along with copper clamp rings, you were good to go.

Knock on wood. Mine has given me no problems in over 25 years.

It’s estimated Polybutylene plumbing was installed in over a 10 million homes.
