My friend Steve Roberts was in a waiting situation with an engineer from Harley Davidson. To make conversation, and remembering the vanadium steel in the Model "T", he essayed "So, you must get to work with some pretty advanced alloys?"
"Nah" came the reply. "If it breaks we make it thicker, and if it looks ugly, we chrome it."
