Since the phaseout of the CG 125, only the 160cc versions of the CG are available in Brazil. This one was modded to resemble the scramblers from the '70s and looks so good it took me a while to figure out clearly it was a CG. So, even though most Americans may not get interested on utilitarian motorcycles, and see motorcycles in general as a summertime toy, a small-displacement one which may cater more to commuting and couriers may eventually suit itself to a more leisure-oriented setup too.

The 3rd generation of the Honda CG 125 is becoming a familiar sight again...

I'll bet the toy designers 25 years ago didn't expect to influence the full size world like this. I can barely interpret lines like that. I half expect it to transform into a suitcase or a hat rack.

More like a R. Crumb cartoon of fat people riding bicycles

Another puzzle - why do light motorcycles have skinny forks instead of thin-wall ones? Weight is being wasted.

Probably since thin wall precision DOM straightened seamless tube is kinda pricey

Exactly. It is cheaper to grind cheap, low quality, thick-wall steel tube to shape than deal with thinwall tubing.
A bike like that sells for about $2500 in Mexico. The design spec is cheap and durable which means lots of heavy steel components.

It's always worth to remember they're meant for a conservative buying pattern, not necessarily to win at the Dakar rally.

My friend Steve Roberts was in a waiting situation with an engineer from Harley Davidson. To make conversation, and remembering the vanadium steel in the Model "T", he essayed "So, you must get to work with some pretty advanced alloys?"
"Nah" came the reply. "If it breaks we make it thicker, and if it looks ugly, we chrome it."
