My wife and I own 125cc scooters. They can cruise at 50 mph but usually struggle to maintain 55 mph (and they both have a performance exhaust and rejet).
They are very good for urban & suburban commuting (especially with the CVT and no hand clutch), but they don't have enough power for rural 2 lane highways.
