Even though there are safety inspections for CNG conversions here, I believe the certification for compliance with emission regulations is what prevents some greater interest for CNG there. Well, sometimes a claim that CNG is inherently cleaner than any other fuel might turn into halfway-truth, as some excessively lean mixture often applied due to its knock resistence (even higher than that of ethanol) could affect NOx, besides increasing the risk of overheating and even some engine damage (mostly cylinder head cracks). Usage of conversion kits of an outdated tech is also quite troublesome here. Otherwise, when a conversion is carried out properly, some folks consider CNG even better than gasoline.
