Even though there are safety inspections for CNG conversions here, I believe the certification for compliance with emission regulations is what prevents some greater interest for CNG there. Well, sometimes a claim that CNG is inherently cleaner than any other fuel might turn into halfway-truth, as some excessively lean mixture often applied due to its knock resistence (even higher than that of ethanol) could affect NOx, besides increasing the risk of overheating and even some engine damage (mostly cylinder head cracks). Usage of conversion kits of an outdated tech is also quite troublesome here. Otherwise, when a conversion is carried out properly, some folks consider CNG even better than gasoline.

CNG prices now seem to be pegged to Diesel fuel, and odd enough for the first time I can recall both are more expensive than regular gasoline.

Afaik, the difficulty is getting refueled with CNG. I only know of two places in Reno that have the facilities, both belong to public transportation with no public access.

Getting the compression equipment to DIY, 3000 psi is kinda outside normal pressue ranges

There were 2 different home CNG filling stations that were available, both were junk, crapped out after a year or 2.
If reliable, affordable home filling rigs were available I think CNG would have done better.
I think the home fillers should have set a lower target preasure for the home units, like 1,000 to 2,000psi, enough to get you to and from work and around town bit not full pressure.

What Is A Scuba Tank? Everything You Need to Know
9 Dec 2021 What Pressure Are Scuba Tanks Filled To? 3000 psi Is the standard rated pressure for these tanks. Low-pressure tanks have 2400 to 2640 psi. High pressure is reached at 3300 to 3500 psi.
My brother had a home compressor, IIRC it went to 1500psi.

Fwiw those scuba compressors are minimum 3 stage and fairly large hp so 110 household is out.

The ones at citilift were 50 hp and ran all night to refill 28 vans @3500. At 1000 psi the warning light went on, and you had better be within 10 miles out or you're pushing.

Hmmm sounds like my 82% battery leaf has more range than a CNG vehicle.

The french dude with the airmotor powered car has a decent idea but horrid implementation. Recall the airpowered 1302 craze.

45 to 50 city miles on 100 gallon sized tanks @3500, I was doing around 120 -150 miles so my life revolved around 20 minute "potty" breaks twice a day.

Range was also non linear with more consumption at lower pressure
