IIRC in my country all the hops are imported. Makes me wonder what could be a suitable (and regionally-sourced) replacement.

Maybe the difference between an alcoholic beverage often made by the homeless and by the inmates is the fact it's often more common for it to get distilled when made in prison than on the streets.
