As Bjorn Lomborg says, if you want to save the polar bears, start with not killing them (close to 1000 per year).
We did have sea lions sitting at the dams eating the fish. A party was thrown for them with noisemakers.
If sea lions were tasty, perhaps we'd have more fish.
