AFAIK the 195hp version fitted to the Humvee in the mid-'90s (and to earliest versions of the Hummer for the civilian market) is already turbocharged, yet its torque ratings are often pointed out as pathetic compared to a 6-cyl Cummins or the International engines fitted to the Ford F-Series around the same time.
