I guess that's all a part of the trade off for not having been raised in captivity, contained in small pens, and injected with growth hormones their entire lives before finally being marched to their humane slaughter.
Not that I have a big moral objection to livestock, but I believe free range beef, chicken etc to be a better method.
As for your objection to the method of death, remember a pain free death is pretty rare, regardless if it takes place in nature or in the slaughterhouse.
