I think that money and the market will just leave governments behind in the dust arguing, as they move investments and industry pivots, on timescales unimaginable in democracies, short of a declared war on global warming.
The warm, touchy-feely stuff isn't necessary for adult communication. Money will follow smart products. All will be beneficiaries, by default.
Power of the purse. That's what ended Apartheid. Protests and revolts meant nothing.
No one sheds a tear for the livery stables, stage coaches, kerosene lantern makers, ice-box manufacturers, pony express riders, or incandescent light bulb makers.
There will come a point when no one knows what pistons and oil filters are.
