Apparently, polar bear fur is non-transmissive in the infrared. Some UFO whack- jobs tried to sneak into AREA-51 / Papoose Lake at night, while wearing polar bear skins.
EG&G infrared sensors failed to pick them up, but the intruders hadn't considered their acoustic signatures, which EG&G sensors did detect.
