Those who look for the more utilitarian nature of a thumper might still be well served by the 350cc which remains available in India. Well, maybe the 500cc will be missed by some folks, the same way the pushrod 125cc engine is often missed among conservative Honda CG buyers in my country.

The 401cc Himalayan is an oddball to me. I'm not sure why they bothered to create a unique 401cc single for it when they have the new 350cc single and have confirmed a 650cc Himalayan

Back when the Himalayan was under development, the Royal Enfield singles were only pushrod. I must confess it surprised me the Himalayan was released with that 401cc engine instead of the 500cc which at that time was already proven, and quite more dumbproof as it didn't have a timing chain to be neglected and fail.
