I can't speak for anyone else, but rising fuel prices did factor into my latest vehicle purchase. I replaced a Jetta TDI (which averaged just over 40 mpg) with a 2nd-gen Prius (which gets over 50 mpg). Fuel economy wasn't the only factor in that decision. But it did play a role.
The rising fuel prices also renewed my interest in eco-modding, and my return to this forum after a long hiatus.
