[QUOTE=JSH;660291]A company who's sole business case is reassembling motorcycles for other manufacturers to avoid Brazil's tariffs.[/QUIOTE]
Dafra actually has a retail presence, selling some random Chinese and Indian TVS motorcycles with its own brand, which is also applied to Taiwanese SYM scooters.

Of course they still take their piece and CDK's avoid tariffs but still add significant cost to the vehicle.

As the models assembled by Dafra are either sourced from some countries in Asia where labor is perceived as cheap, or subcontracted assembly for top-tier makers such as Ducati, the entry-level models branded as Dafra remain cost-competitive, while the local assembly price for high-end models is easier to assimilate.

A CKD bike is still going to cost more than local assembly or a simple import.

Import duties in Brazil are sky-high enough to justify the CKD assembly in Manaus.
