Flat 4 and 6 aircraft engines get primes to start too. Since they don't have a choke system, no other way to enrich for start. Some marvel and bendix carbs have an accelerator pump you can pump to get the extra start fuel, but you don't normally slam the throttle to full on like a car. Fuel injected are particularly difficult to cold start without a prime.
