The scientists used your favorite thing to determine it's lopsided. Simulations and hypothesis.
1) In space there is no 'up' 'down' or 'sideways.'
2) If you leave Earth, and travel 'out', eventually passing the heliopause, you have experienced a single 'point' on the surface of a time-averaged 'sphere', with an average radius of 9,300,000,000-miles.
3) Are you in possession of a document which supports the assertion that, Voyager was capable of imaging the entire surface of an object this large, from a single observation point?
4) I suspect that we need to discuss solar polar dynamics.
5) Parker Spirals.
6) Coriolis Effect.
7) Alfven Waves
8) Lorentz Forces
9) Co-rotating Interactive Regions
10) Overtaking shockwaves
11) Solar Ecliptic equatorial rotation periodidicity
Etc..
12) Simulations would be nice to hear about.
13)' Hypotheses', if you recall, require testing by more than a few parties, and some consensus regarding experimental results, before it can graduate to 'theory'.
