Giving up on a suboptimal plan early yields dividends; something I'm still working on, as I spent $20 on a Nissan Leaf EVSE, $20 on parts, and like 6 hours of my time to gather everything I need and build a crappy 240v EVSE. Now I have 2 of them, various adaptors to plug into different 120v/240v outlets, and zero EVs.
I tinker with unimportant projects to distract myself from doing something worthwhile but painfully uninteresting. If I don't attempt to do the tough things, I haven't failed (is what my delusion tells myself).
