Every athletic study I have seen is all over the map. So either they cant test for it, their parameters are too sloppy, or it doesn't matter, but stop whining about it and get on with it. However if it doesn't make a difference, why test for enhancement at all and then penalize?
2nd law of social science:. Under the most exacting of testing with the most rigerous controls and stimuli, the organism under study will preversely do as it darn well wishes.
